Winter Protection Not only does this protection of your paint help it last longer but it also makes it easier for you to wash your car. Bug guts, road tar, tree sap, brake dust, etc. will not stick as easily to your paints surface. It also provides the protection from the bug guts, tree sap, etc. etching into the clear coat. Allot of people think it's a good idea to leave the dirt on their car all winter. They seem to think it puts a layer of protection on their car. Really all they are doing is damaging their paints surface. When it's time to wash, if not done properly, you are sure to cause some scratching because of the extensive amount of dirt and debris that would have collected on your vehicle. Let alone all of the brake dust and such that is etched into the clear coat. So, in reality it is good to wash your vehicle as as often as it needs during the winter months. Always thinking about the protection, it's a great idea to clay bar and wax every month or so. Here is an example:
A wheel cleaning and wax is always a good idea before the winter. Brake dust is very damaging to your wheels. To the point where they may not be able to be saved without refinishing them. With the cold weather and less washing of vehicles it's best to protect everything you can.
